Ms Sim

It's 6 o'clock in the morn' and I've been awake since 3 am. I just had an uncontrollable craving for beef & onion meetballs. If that is not disturbing enough, I must add that I have just cooked myself a batch and eaten two.

I feel like an out-of-sync Sim...

In Dreams

Yesterday I napped during the afternoon (a good thing since i practically didn't sleep last night) & had a strange dream where I was falling. Normally I wake up when those happen but not this time. I just kept on falling and falling and falling... I could see myself getting nearer to the ground and so I concluded I must be parachuting. The last thought I had before hitting the ground was: "well this was a stupid move! Why on earth would anyone jump out of a plane?"

That's when I woke up. I doubt the bloody thing opened. Even in dreams I'm plagued by bad luck.

-> i recommend watching Band of Brothers <-

The End of Halloween

I LOVE Halloween... and Thanksgiving... and Chandeleur... and many other festivals that celebrate the passing of the seasons.
When I first moved to Limoges, I thought i'd have to give up Halloween. Not so! This city used to party on October 31st. When the sun went down, witches & ghouls used to take over.

Alas...

No more costumes, no more parties, no more decorations, no more pumpkins

In fact, the city of Limoges has been hanging Christmas decorations for the last 2 weeks or so (they are not illuminated at least). Instead of pointy hats, we now have santa's hat. Instead of webs, we now have icicles. Instead of a bloody moon, we now have silver stars. Orange & black has evolved into red & green.

I'm afraid (pun intended) to say... Halloween no more...

The day I almost died of a heart attack

The other night I was minding my own business: listening to my Pod while lying on the couch in near darkness (with only the glow from the computer screen). I have a lot of things on my mind lately and it felt good to escape with music for a while.

All of a sudden I felt watched... As if something was hovering above me... (you have to remember The Eye is still fresh in my mind)

I opened my eyes & looked back:

**remember that the next event occured in a split second**

There was a tall figure in the dark, with his hands together, looking at me

I screamed for my life!!!!

Then i realized it was just my husband; not some freaky dark ghost. Nonetheless my heart skipped a beat that night.

Should I keep on watching horror movies?

By the way, we lent The Eye to a friend of ours and can you believe he fell asleep??? Can you imagine how difficult it is for me to hear this considering a actually had a sleepless night because of this bloody movie?

bouquet-O-fish

We spent a fabulous weekend in the centre of France. We were staying with friends who were celebrating their son's Christening as well as their 30th birthday so, to our great delight, the party lasted over 2 days. It was great to see them again (they live in Switzerland) as well as meet new ones. We had a marvelous time.

To and fro their lovely estate, we did some sightseeing along the way. Our first stop was in Montluçon, which is a lovely medieval town that is culminated by the castle of the Duc de Bourbon. The Cher river runs through the city and we saw a peculiar thing whilst walking along its bank. The water is littered with trash and was very murky so we were intrigued when we saw what looked like a strange algae formation bobbing on the surface. When we looked closer, we realized it was a group of fish, huddled closely together, standing straight up and keeping very still. They were alive because once in a while, one of them would swim away from the group. It ressembled a bouquet of flower and looked something like this:
On the way back, we made a detour by Vichy. Alas, we didn't have the chance to relax in a thermal bath. One of these days, i'll splurge on a spa/thermal bath/massage getaway. The architecture of the late 19th & early 20th century is interesting and we were happy to visit it.

I wish all our week-ends were like this...
