Dear Diary...

I read volume 2 of Happy Mania last night which i enjoyed very much. Like Shigeta, I'm looking for my place in life but it seems i always end up in the wrong places. She's looking for love, i'm not. I've already found my prince.
I remember telling my mum "if only i could find my man, then everything would be so much easier because i wouldn't have to concentrate on finding my prince". Looks like i was dead wrong...

***************************

I've been singin' the blues (and i'm not singer...) *** J'ai le cafard grave!

P.S.: GGGrrrrr... I just realized that my unkymoods would all change to the current one, therefore affecting previous posts.

Making a wish...

****************

I'm afraid to say i'm a rather superstitious person, especially concerning eyelashes. Everytime i lose a lash, i pick it up on the tip of my finger, i make a wish, i blow on it and if it flies away it means my wish will come true. During the past few days, I've lost 3 which means i made 3 times the same wish. My eyelashes have always took off but i had to blow very hard. Everytime, the lash would hang on to my finger and i had to make an extra effort for it to go away.

I think it means my wish will comme true only if i work hard...

Un grand moment de gourmandise

We buy this dessert coffee cream that is divine! You have to understand that every bite is sublime!

At lunch, Gwen & i were chit-chatting while having this exquisite dessert. I was talking and holding my spoon in the air when SPLAT! my delicious bite fell on the kitchen table. We both stopped & stared in shock.

I totally licked it off the table! You know what... i suspect my husband was damn proud of me for it! ^-^

*************************

Ma Critique de Clara Sheller

Last night, after watching Open Water, i turned on the television. I wanted to watch something light after such an oppressive movie. I tuned in to the new French serie Clara Sheller.
Verdict: so-so.
As the story unfolded, it really reminded me of Aubépine's blog & I wouldn't be surprised it inspired the writer. For those who haven't seen it, it's a french version that has picked up elements from Briget Jones-Sex and the City-Ally McBeal. I must say it's better than the usual police series they have here but it's still very amateur. The dialogues aren't great, most actors are bad & let's not even mention the cinematography! I think they blew all their budget on music copyright rather than investing in some lighting. The image is sooooo dark! The television series in Québec are far superior to this & I'm sure they don't have as much money as here. Anyway, I was still entertained but I don't know if i'll remember to tune in next wednesday. I may have been interested only by the subject because even though i've been married for 2 years, I can still relate to 30-something singletons, regardless of what some people may say.

I'm craving for...

an 80s teen movie marathon slumber party.

Breakfast Club - Pretty in Pink - Modern Girls - Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Of course, they'd be in VHS format. We could eat pop corn & froot loops with chocolate syrup. We'd all wear a cute baggy t-shirt as a pajama (with leggings & tank top underneath). We'd talk about shopping, school n' boys.

Pretty in Pink

I hate the Comic Sans MS font

Am i the only one?

I despise receiving a document written in that font.

It had been a while since i'd received anything in that font but there seems to be a resurgence lately. Please stop. It's such an ugly font! I don't have a problem with other types of comic script (as long as it's used intelligently) but this one really bothers me.

So please... pretty please... pretty pretty please with sugar on top... Don't write to me using that font.

My Favorite Things

I was rather sick last friday and to cheer me up, Gwen offered me a gift: The Sound of Music DVD (he has a little stash of presents hidden in the house for moments like these). Singing along the tunes made me feel much better & the song My favorite Things has prompted me to do a list of MY favorite things. It's not complete... but here it goes:

  • Breakfast
Breakfast with Gwen, with friends in the morning. Eggs benedict, bagels, warm café au lait in my lovely bowls (usually pucca or red polka dots), a side order of creton with papa. Chit chat & refills & radio in the background. An open day ahead of me filled with a thousand possibilities. Skimming through various newspapers & reading only les cahiers qui me plaisent: actualités, art & spectacles, book review and tourism. Reading the personal ads and guessing for whom they'd make a better match among my acquaintances. I've always loved weekend breakfasts. At dad's with warmed up croissants, a selection of cheese & delicate coffee (papa hates mugs & always serves coffee in elegant tea cups & saucers). With mum and her family at Barbie's or some other suburban breakfast joint. On sunday mornings with old lovers before saying adieu. With friends at my beloved Bistro Duluth or concocting an egg recipe at my apartment & talking about boys. And last but not least, with my darling husband every morning over fresh baguette & bodum coffee.
Can you understand why I love breakfast so much? It's connected with so many happy memories.

  • The seasons
Spring: My favorite! flowers growing, tulips, cherry trees blooming, spring showers, 1st coffee or beer on a terrasse
Summer: swimming & picnics
Autumn: chimney smell, coloured leaves, cuddly nights indoor while watching a movie
Winter: snow angels & snowman, slidding & Xmas lights

  • Animals
cats, goats & sheeps, pandas, elephants, fish, crabs, bunnies, chickens, cows, budgies & Ants (i know, i know... they are insects)

  • Gourmandises

Television is dead! Long Live Television!

We are addicted to television series on DVD. Forget about lousy french television (well... there are some good documentaries), series on DVD are the best! You watch them whenever you want, there's no advertisement, you can pause for pipi & calls PLUS you don't have to wait a bloody week for the sequel! ^-^

  • Sex and the City: Fabulous! My personal favorite! We are trying to keep the final season for as long as possible but it's getting harder and harder.
  • Six Feet Under: Brilliant! Anxiously awaiting season 3. They put FUN back in funeral
  • 24: Not the best but it's addictive. I'm ashamed to say we watched the first series 6 hours straight. My tush was sooooo sore afterwards.
  • Ally McBeal: A classic. We enjoy looking at old episodes. It's like Reruns-On-Demand
  • O.C.: Ok, ok, laugh... It sucks, it's predictable and all but we got hooked while at my cousin's house and now we are watching the rest of season 1.
We're accepting suggestion!
Has anyone seen Nip/Tuck, Desperate Housewives?

  • Sex and the City: Ma série préférée!

Late Last Night...

...while we had both been in bed for a while, Gwen went into a hypnic jerk. He does this almost every night but it was pretty violent this time.

C.: "I felt that..."
G.: "I've been shot"
C.: "what?"
G.: "I've been shot!"
C.: "Does it hurt"
G.: as if i just asked the dumbest question "yeah!"
C.: "..."
G.: "I was with Lady Oscar"
C.: "who?"
G.: "Lady Oscar!"
C.: "Okayyyyyyyy"

Of course, he doesn't remember any of it today. I'm still stunned that he's riding with Lady Oscar in his dreams.

G.: "On m'a tiré dessus"
C.: "Pardon?"
G.: plus insistant "On m'a tiré dessus!"
C.: "ça fait mal?"
G.: "Évidemment!"
C.: "..."
G.: "J'étais avec Lady Oscar"
C.: "Avec qui???"
G.: "Lady Oscar!"

Breakfast in a Diner

I was too tired this morning to drink my coffee. I know caffeine is suppose to wake me up but coffee doesn't have an instant effect on me. That's why i'm incapable of drinking a lot of coffee in the morning if i'm tired.

A funny thing happened last sunday when we drove to Dordogne (yes, again...)
We stopped at a Highway rest area because I really needed to go. I quickly recognized the girly icon but notice there was a man peeping into that door. He was hesitating & looking at me funny. I didn't have time to stop since i was kind of in a rush. As i stormed into the bathroom I noticed there was another man in the bathroom. As i was shutting the door, the weird one also came into the girl's room. We both came out of the stall at the same time while he was giving the dirtiest of looks as if I was in the wrong one.
Geez Louise! He was probably following the first guy who was wrong. He should know by now that when a girl's gotta go, SHE'S GOTTA GO and she ain't gonna mess it up!
